WHAT WE'LL FOCUS ON
Placemaking
Improving placemaking and the public realm means promoting a safe, vibrant and beautiful Downtown by developing and supporting programs, policies and projects that foster a walkable, enjoyable and vibrant environment.
Events
Events make a place come to life. The Downtown Difference aims to strengthen and enhance signature events that already exist in DTLB, while also cultivating a culture of event recruitment.
Beautification Projects
Some of the greatest public improvement projects in the country have been supported through public-private partnerships. While it is the responsibility of the City of Long Beach to invest heavily in public infrastructure, the Downtown Difference aims to be a leading advocate on projects that further enhance the public space with projects such as public art instillations, decorative lighting, murals, statues and other fixtures that bring visitors and residents together.
Community Development
Downtown Long Beach is nothing without its residents. At the core of the work for the Downtown Difference will be supporting community-lead initiatives, and attracting new residents to the various eclectic neighborhoods of DTLB.
